The CSBM considers all applications equally regardless of gender, disability, social or ethnic origin etc. Applicants must meet the admission requirements for each CSBM course they are seeking to join. Application forms and entry requirements may be obtained from the administration office or from the school website at www.csbm.co.uk. Applicants must not apply if they do not satisfy the admission requirements. All queries will be answered.

United Kingdom student registration procedure

UK students requiring admission are given an application form to complete and then remit to the school along with attached certified copies of their academic documents, including certificates and, where available, formal transcripts of their academic record, providing full details of the degrees, classes, or grades obtained including the units taken along with two academic or work references. This information is essential to the selection process.

International student registration procedure

CSBM provides education for students from throughout the world. Students belong to different cultures and derive from varied backgrounds and each enriches CSBM’s unique educational environment. The school can be contacted through its website, e-mail, telephone, letter or face-to-face on campus. CSBM also has a number of representatives internationally.

Registration on the Course

Candidates must complete the application form and return it to the School, together with the following:

  1. Two passport size photographs
  2. Certified photocopies of qualifications
  3. Evidence, where applicable, of work experience
  4. A non-refundable registration fee of £100

You are advised to read the following School Regulations before returning the completed Application Form. All students must:

  • Attend classes regularly as time-tabled. A minimum of 85 percent attendance in each unit is required. If attendance falls below this mark, without a valid reason, students may be suspended, not permitted to take examinations, or both.
  • Students must be punctual. Persistent latecomers are likely to be suspended.
  • On certain courses, recommended text-books are supplied by the School. On other courses, it is the responsibility of the student to provide his/her own stationery and books. Purchase of course text books should be regarded as an essential ingredient of academic success.
  • It is the responsibility of students to ensure that they become members, where necessary, of appropriate external examining bodies and register for examinations in good time. Membership and examination fees are payable by the student directly to the appropriate exam body.
  • The School reserves the right to amend/cancel a course without prior notification.
  • Students are expected to behave in a responsible manner, both on and off the premises. Failure to do so may result in suspension from the School.
  • Unless prior arrangements have been made, overseas students must pay tuition fees before commencement of the course.
  • The School expects all fees to be paid on time. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in suspension without notice and your name being struck off the register. On suspension, the appropriate authorities will be informed of this action.
  • If fees are not paid in full, the School reserves the right to retain your passport until such time as the debt is paid. The School will also apply to the courts to recover any outstanding sum, including costs incurred for recovery.

Letter of Acknowledgement

On receipt of the application form and related documentation, the School will send the applicant a letter of acknowledgement. It may be used by overseas applicants to process foreign exchange through their Central Banks. The letter will confirm:

  • The course for which the application has been made
  • The course fee and the date by which it must be paid
  • The date of course commencement
  • Maintenance funds required for the duration of the course.

Certificate of Enrolment

On receipt of the tuition fee, the School will issue a Certificate of Enrolment, stating that a place has been reserved on the course.

Overseas students will require the Certificate of Enrolment to apply to the British High Commission/Embassy for a student visa.

Visa Application

Once a place has been reserved, students requiring entry clearance must visit the British Embassy/High Commission in person. The following documents must accompany the application:

  • The Certificate of Enrolment issued by the School
  • Passport
  • Documents, e.g. recent bank statements as evidence that you have funds available for the duration of your course. If you are sponsored, you will need a letter from your sponsor, confirming that he/she will meet the cost of the course.
  • Copies of educational qualifications
  • Please note: Any student obtaining a student visa and not reporting to School will be responsible for payment of full School fee.

Success in obtaining a student visa will depend largely on the quality of your application. You are therefore requested to pay particular attention to the following points, all of which are of equal importance.

  • Appearance of the application: Appearance is of vital importance. You should therefore consider each question carefully and draft your answers on a separate sheet of paper before committing them to the form. Answers should be written neatly or preferably typed.
  • Financial Status: The Clearance Officer must be assured that you can pay the relevant course fee and maintain yourself throughout your studies. You will currently need about £8,500 in order to support yourself for one academic year. The submission of bank statements, covering a six-month period, is a prerequisite of success. In this connection, the authorities wish to see evidence of a sustained income and prudent expenditure over the period in question. They are extremely suspicious of large sums paid into the account immediately prior to the proposed date of commencement.
  • Personal Statement: Even if there is no provision on the application form, you are strongly advised to include a personal statement concerning your choice of course. It is probably the most significant feature of your application. The following points must be covered:
    • Your academic qualifications.
    • Your knowledge of the course, including a synopsis of its curriculum.
    • The length of the course and its assessment procedures, i.e. assignments and examinations.
    • The qualification which you will obtain and how you might use it.
    • Possible career opportunities relevant to the qualification.
    • Further courses of study, which you may follow as a result of obtaining the qualification.
    • Knowledge of the School and its range of course provision.
    • Emphasise that you will attend a School approved by the British Accreditation Council.
  • English Proficiency: This is highly significant to your success. You must remember that your suitability to undertake a programme of study is assessed largely by the proficiency which you demonstrate in the completion of the application form, your personal statement and, of course, your ability in spoken English, as demonstrated at the interview. Time spent in improving your English is therefore a sound investment.
  • Time Frame: You are advised to make your visa application at least three months prior to the start of the course. Please inform the visa official of the date on which you would like to commence the course. In this context, you must remember that visa personnel are extremely busy people. Consequently, you may not be interviewed in time to meet your desired target commencement date. You are therefore strongly advised to provide the official with the next available start date.
  • Retain a Copy of Your Application: Between submitting your application and being called for interview, several weeks may elapse, during which time you may have forgotten essential aspects of your application. Please make sure, therefore, that you keep a copy of the following documents.
    • The completed visa application form
    • Your statement of why you wish to undertake the relevant course
    • Copies of bank statements
    • Copies of any documents which may assist you in your application

Remember to take the above with you and do not hesitate to refer to them in the interview.

Fees Policy

Stated course fees include VAT and study material where applicable. The school reserves the right to alter time tables and teaching staff as and when it may be necessary.

  • For overseas students requiring a visa all fees must be paid in full prior to course commencement.
  • Students requiring a visa, who are rightfully residing in the UK at the time of enrolment, have the option of paying course fees in full prior to course commencement or paying in instalments with the first payment being a minimum of 50 percent of the total fees and the balance being payable in instalments, subject to prior approval by the School.
  • For home students 50 percent of the fees are payable prior to course commencement and the other 50 percent will be payable in instalments, subject to prior approval by the School.

Please make sure you include personal details with the payment, i.e name and date of birth on the back of the cheque and bank draft. When making a direct transfer, make sure the School can identify your payment.

Please make note of the following points:

  • Courses once booked cannot be cancelled or deferred and total course fees will remain payable. However, the management at its discretion and in exceptional circumstances may accept cancellation notices received two weeks prior to commencement of the course. Administration charges on all cancellations will apply in all circumstances. These will be subject to the higher of £200 or 15 percent of the total course fees payable.If fees have not been paid or arrangements have not been made to do so prior to course commencement, students will only be temporarily enrolled and will be subsequently required to arrange payment as per the agreement with the school.
  • Failure to pay either full fees or subsequent instalments may result in the student being excluded from the examinations, and therefore failing to complete the course. For overseas students it is required that advance payments be made prior to arrival in the UK. The payment is non-refundable except in the case of visa refusals (see below).
  • Students who do not progress according to the study schedule will be required to pay the fee applicable at the time of progression.
  • Course provision is subject to availability, although every effort will be made to meet requirements.
  • CSBM reserve the right to cancel and/or modify courses without prior notice. Where a course does not run, course fees will be refunded in full except for the registration fee.

Sanctions for default and non-payment

Dishonoured cheques will be charged at £50 to cover bank charges and administration costs.

If a student fails to make an agreed payment under any of the above arrangements then their access to school facilities may be suspended until either payment have been brought ‘up-to-date’ or full payment has been received. Students who have an outstanding balance after these dates may have their access to school facilities suspended.

Suspended students are not entitled to attend lectures/seminars, sit examinations, or use any of the school facilities including library and computing services and they will not receive any award until the outstanding fees are paid. Please also note that we have the right, under school regulations, to cancel any marks gained whilst a student is on suspension period. As set out in the school regulations, suspended students remain liable for their full course fees for the year. This contractual commitment is clearly stated on forms signed during enrolment.

The school will, and does, take legal action against any student who does not pay their tuition fees and fails to respond to requests for payment. Such action may lead to a County Court Judgment being registered. This may also affect a student’s credit rating and they may find it difficult to gain credit for six years. International students against whom a County Court Judgement is issued may also be in breach of the terms of their UK visa.
